John Allen
John Allen has been consulting since 1993. With his wife Ruth, he formed Allen Management Solutions in June of 1994.  His consulting has spanned many industries and a very broad array of engagements.

A wealth of experience has served his clients well.  He is equally comfortable helping a business redesign their supply chain and inventory systems or in helping a Council improve its governance or address some particularly challenging issues, be they environmental, economic or social.

John was raised in Brisbane but has also lived in Victoria, Japan and New South Wales. He graduated as a geologist from the University of Queensland in 1973. He worked with Mt Isa Mines for the next four years in its Operations Research department and then spent the following sixteen years with IBM. John was selected by IBM Australia as its participant in IBM’s Management Acceleration Programme in 1986, something which equipped him for a range of senior management opportunities. In IBM, his assignments ranged across sales, marketing, channels and distribution management and information systems, in Australia and overseas.

John is a member of the Logistics Association of Australia. Over the last few years, working with some of his distribution clients, he has done some ground breaking work which has now led to the formation of Horizon Inventory.

Part of the motivation to form his own business was a strong belief in a facilitative and coaching model of consulting and a desire to make a difference, something that Allen Management Solutions has been doing since its inception.
